The aim of the project is to bring a falls prevention
programme to the local community and help those people
at risk of falling, by improving quality of life by
reducing the fear of falling, increasing activity levels
and reducing isolation.
It is a 12 week programme with exercises to improve
balance, strength and mobility, followed by educational
workshops. It aims to increase knowledge of falls prevention
including how to recover from a fall, home safety and
community services.
Maintenance of and developing the gains made during the GFAF
Level 1 course is the objective of the level 2 programme. This
runs for up to 36 weeks and may include members of the community
who have not attended level 1 but are assessed as appropriate for
Level 2.
